When smart dates are downloaded, some of the formatting may be lost. For example, a smart date that displays in CIRS as 07/04/1960, will appear as 07041960 in the downloaded file. In order for the slashes to display after downloading, you must convert the smart date to an alpha format and then edit the new date field to include the slashes.
The syntax to convert a smart date to a alpha format is:
NEWDATE1/a8MDYY=AC:BRTHDATE;
Once the date is converted to alpha, you can edit the field to insert slashes.
NEWDATE2/a10= edit(AC:NEWDATE1,'99/99/9999');
For additional information on dates and formats, refer to your FOCUS documentation.
