Creating Laser Printer Labels

You can create labels with CIRS data on your laser printer using Microsoft Word and Excel.  The steps are as follows:

Step 1:

Gather the CIRS data needed for your labels and hold the data to a permanent hold file in a format for importing to Excel.  In the example below, the fields needed for employee name and home address are being held to PERMSML in a LOTUS format.  For additional information on creating hold files, refer to your CIRS User Manual.

Step 2:

Download the data in your permanent hold file to your PC, and then import the data into an Excel spreadsheet.  Before saving your spreadsheet, insert a new row before the first line and label the data in each column.  For instructions on downloading, refer to your CIRS User Manual.  For instructions on importing files into spreadsheets, refer to Help in Excel.

Step 3:

Next, create a Word document for mailing labels using the Mail Merge function and select the Excel spreadsheet created in Step 2 above as the data source.    For instructions on creating mailing labels, refer to Help in Word.
